You can’t control the environment, but you can control how prepared you are for it.

A lot of outdoor work gets framed as reactive. In the right place at the right time just chasing the light and capturing what you can.

The reality is, the strongest images are usually decided before you even show up.

For this project with MMGY Origin creating work for adidas Terrex to announce their launch in Sport Chek, we spent time mapping things out.

Through initial planning, we knew the exact shots we were going for. Having scouted ahead of time we knew exactly where we were going to capture each image. With shooting both photo and video time was limited, so when it was time for photos to step in we knew exactly what we needed to capture. It wasn’t guesswork, it was execution.

You can’t control the environment, but you can control how prepared you are for it.

And that preparation is usually what makes the difference.
