A Partnership Forged in Powder

A global pursuit of winter and on a mission to capture the essence of adventure...

When a project with Zeal Optics lands on my desk, it’s a signal to pack for the extremes. Over the past five years, our collaboration has been a global pursuit of winter, a mission to capture the essence of adventure in the planet’s most challenging and breathtaking environments.

This isn't just about finding snow; it's about finding the perfect moment within it. It’s the roar of a snowmobile engine echoing through the silent, expansive Canadian backcountry as we scout for untouched lines. It’s the surreal feeling of standing shoulder-deep in Japan’s legendary powder, waiting for an athlete to slash a turn and disappear into a cloud of white, my lens trained to catch that fleeting explosion of energy. It’s the disorienting thrill of chasing winter south to the Andes, carving through fresh Argentinian powder under the August sun.

On location, the trust we’ve built becomes our most valuable asset. The Zeal team doesn't just hire a photographer; they partner with someone who understands the rhythm of the mountains and the demands of the sport. They know I have the logistics, the safety, and the technical execution dialed in, which frees me up completely.

That freedom is where the magic happens. I’m not just executing a shot list; I’m hunting for light, anticipating movement, and feeling the energy of the moment. There’s an unspoken understanding, a shared vision for what a Zeal image feels like. This allows me to immerse myself in the environment and focus solely on translating that raw, adventurous spirit into a powerful photograph. The result is a library of imagery that’s as varied and dynamic as the landscapes we’ve explored together, each shot a testament to a partnership forged in the wild.
